History and Secrets of Sicilian Food
Book presentation by Marcella Croce on Sicilian gastronomy

 

Author Marcella Croce will present her book Eat Smart in Sicily (coauthored with Joan Peterson, Ginkgo Press, Madison, WI, 2008). Born in Palermo, Marcella Croce completed her Ph.D. in Italian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She teaches Elderhostel courses on Sicilian culture organized by TrinityCollege in Palermo.

A regular contributor to the daily La Repubblica, her book Oltre il chador - Iran in bianco e nero won the first prize for women writers entitled “Il Paese delle Donne” (Rome 2007). She has published numerous books on Sicilian traditions, including History on the Road –The Painted Carts of Sicily (introduction by Mary Taylor Simeti, Pogo Press, Minneapolis 2005 – mentioned in 2007 for the Eric Hoffer Book Awards). Another book of hers on Sicilian food will be published later this year by Kalòs editore, Palermo. The event is copresented with the Regione Siciliana and the Italian Cultural Institutes of Vancouver and San Francisco, and the Association for the Preservation of Popular Traditions in Palermo.
